Summary

  • Custom packages can be deployed to remotely install apps to enrolled computers without using the App Store.
    • If using Jamf School or Jamf Now, any custom packages must be signed with an Apple Developer account. See the resources for further guidance.
  • Packages must be uploaded to a distribution point before Jamf Pro can deploy them.
    • To upload a package to the Jamf Cloud distribution point, navigate to Settings > Computer management > Packages.
    • Some packages may contain preference files and should be configured with the Fill user templates (FUT) checkbox and/or Fill existing user home directories (FEU) checkbox. See the resources for further guidance.
  • Packages can be deployed in Jamf Pro using policies.
    • Test any new package deployment by first scoping the policy to a test computer group.
  • To upload a package to Jamf School, navigate to Apps > Inventory.
    • Uploaded packages can be deployed from Apps by selecting the package and clicking Edit Scope.
  • To upload a package to Jamf Now, navigate to Apps > Add an App > Upload Your App.
    • Add the package to a Blueprint to deploy the app to all computers with that Blueprint assigned.
